Currently we are having one service at 11:00 AM on Sunday mornings. This a more traditional service that is rooted in UMC liturgy. This service is an opportunity to continue our journey with God and Christ. Everyone is welcome and valued. If you love the traditional songs, prayers, and liturgy of the church this is the service that you will enjoy. If you have questions or would like information about the service, please email the pastor at pastorstlukeaustin@outlook.com or call (512)476-8164. We hope to see you soon in worship.
In the mid-1930's, a small group of people met in the home of Bennie and Mamie Morgan in west Austin. A charter was granted in 1938. As the community grew, they met in the Old Confederate Home on west Soxtj Street (now the University Gateway Apartments), the house next to Mathews Elementary School and finally our current location, 1306 West Lynn.
To pay for the materials for what is now the Education Building and Fellowship Hall, the ladies of the church served lunches in the Courthouse for one dollar - complete meals with dessert and coffee. Most of the labor for construction was done by members, some of it at night by floodlight. This structure was used for the Sanctuary, with Sunday School rooms and office upstairs.
The next projects were the parsonage and the Infant Care Center. Later, in 1958, the present sanctuary was abuilt. Many talents are reflected in this endeavor, but none more prominent than Toni Silver's bewautiful wood carvings. ST. Luke members continue to make improvements and additions to our place of worship and church grounds.
Some of the outreach programs that are active or had their beginnings at St. Luke to benefit the general population of the city are:
St. Luke is proud of its history, but even more excited about its future.

Stephen grew up in rural East Texas, where he drove tractors, rode four-wheelers, sang old country songs, and learned to play the guitar as a teenager. He began leading worship at age 17 and over the next 15 years, sang at countless churches, summer camps, and events. When it comes to worship, his specialty is leading music for elementary school kids together with their parents. After taking a few years off from music, Stephen started a country music career in 2017, writing and singing the old-style songs he grew up with for the Central Texas honky tonk crowds. Stephen spends much of his time palling around with his son, Jude. They like to play video games, swim, fish, and play golf. They've also been known to regularly visit some of the finest pizza and burger establishments in town.
